As a group we perform historically accurate reenactments with fully researched and documented period military drill as well as domestic camp life. Since 1991, our members have participated in 16th and 17th century reenactments throughout the United States and have acquired accurate uniforms, flags, weapons, armor, kitchenware, etc.  The purpose of any of our events is the accurate portrayal of early colonial life (English & Spanish) from the Landing of Ponce de Leon (1513) through the Siege of St. Augustine (1702). This purpose is fufilled with historical research and documented period military drill and domestic camp life. Both military and domestic representations include authentic colors, a trained drummer, as well as period encampments, cooking and singing.

In 2001 I was interested in black powder and started using a small 8 inch cannon but of course I had to buy a larger one and later used a 24 inch barrel for which I built a carriage.  That was great!!  After hearing about cannon school  in St. Augustine at the Castillo de San Marco I attended where you could fire a  6 foot cannon with a pound of powder.  Wow!  Awesome!  I was hooked.  Cannons led me to pyracy with a local pirate group, entertaining for children and charity events.  Knowledge of  pirate history and Florida history led me to St. Augustine, Drake’s Men, Searles Buccaneers, period camping, and reenacting actual events through the streets of old St. Augustine.

Conrad Matt, proprietor of “The Pirate Haus Inn”Conrad was recruited out of the depths of the old Taberna del Gallo, and the den of iniquity that it once was.  He is our representative in St. Augustine and has been instrumental in obtaining permits, sourcing (a nice word for thieving) various items of need for the crew, and providing lodging in the center of the historic district for crew members.TheCaptain
