SUMMARY:Searle's Raid
DESCRIPTION:Join us on the first Saturday in March in the reenactment of the “1668 Sack of St. Augustine.” During the day a 17 century-style military encampment will be open to the public at the Colonial Quarter Living History Museum. Our local historians\, play host to drills\, demonstrations and living history interpretation from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The reenactment of the sacking and burning of the town will commence Saturday evening at 4:30 PM in the old city. This event is sponsored by Searle’s Buccaneers and the Men of Menendez (members of the Florida Historic Militia)\, with the assistance of the St. John’s County Tourist Development Council. Searle’s Sack of St. Augustine is made possible in part by a grant from the St. Johns County Tourism and Development Council. \nThe procession that commemorates the arrival of the raiding pirates and introduces this annual event will begin at the Cathedral Basilica at 4:30 p.m. on the first Friday of March \, and will proceed north on St. George Street to the Santo Domingo Redoubt on Orange Street.\nVisitors can see colonial St. Augustine in action at this living-history camp\, where there will be period demonstrations with weapons\, clothing\, and equipment\, as well as reenactments of camp life and social activities. \n \n  \n  \nThe reenactment of the battle between the freebooters and the city’s Spanish defenders will take place in St. Augustine’s historic district at 4:30 p.m. on the first Saturday of March\, beginning at \nthe Plaza de la Constitución and ending at the Old City Gate. \nDownload a Flyer HERE. \n

SUMMARY:Colonial Night Watch
DESCRIPTION:The event\, “St Augustine Colonial Night Watch”\, is held the first weekend in December. Night Watch activities are scheduled in various locations in the City of St. Augustine. Activities start at 10 am and continue at both the Colonial Quarter museum and the Castillo de Marcos. Period camp sites are open to visitors in the Colonial Quarter\, Arrivas Yard and in the Riberia Yard (Dutch Colony) on St. George Street. Typically the National Park Service hosts “The Enemy at the Gates” program will on Friday at 6:00 pm. Saturday events will center on the Castillo de San Marcos and continue through the completion of the torchlight parade that evening.  Festivities end up at the Governor’s House on St. George’s Street around 7 pm with the “Volley of Joy.”

DESCRIPTION:British Regulars\, Spanish troops and East Florida Rangers will be preparing to  demonstrate musket firing on the Castillo South Lawn. In Town\, the Colonial Quarter museum is open to the public. There you will find a military encampment representing British\, Spanish and East Florida Ranger troops. Many accoutrements of the period are on display along with musket firings in the Colonial Quarter throughout Saturday. \nFriday\, participants will be setting up a military encampment in the Colonial Quarter Museum. Displays will be available for families and children to learn about the contributions of Florida in America’s Revolution.

Colonial Quarter Stage hosts performances of living historians in period clothing. \nOur participants portray a “living history.” Please join us in peace on this commencement of the Holiday Season. A torchlight parade will start at the Castillo at 7 PM\, and march to the City Gates where the Public will be invited to follow along St. George St. to the Government house where the Mayor of St. Augustine will welcome those assembled. After the troops have fired three Volleys of Joy from their muskets\, the units will be dismissed and those left in attendance are invited to sing along in some old tyme Christmas Carols. St. Augustine’s famous Nights of Lights will be in full swing and the Torchlight Parade makes the ambiance something to remember.

DESCRIPTION:The annual Drake’s Raid event commemorates the attack of the land and naval forces of Sir Francis Drake against Spanish San Agustín in 1586. Encampment setup will take place at the Colonial Quarter Living History Museum. On Friday evening at 5:30 p.m.\, re-enactors portraying Spaniards will meet downtown to announce the arrival of Drake and his fleet. Drills\, demonstrations\, and 16th century living history interpretations will be presented from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday\, at the Colonial Quarter Living History Museum in St. Augustine. A battle between Spanish town’s brave defenders and the English privateers and brigands of Francis Drake will be enacted beginning at 7:00 p.m. The battle will commence at the Santo Domingo Redoubt near the City Gates\, proceed down St. George Street\, and conclude at the Governor’s Palace at the Plaza de la Constitución. The event’s conclusion\, encampment teardown and cleanups will take place on Sunday.
